  • For your fourth month, you can increase your weekly dose to 1.7 mg.

The dose schedule described below is the typical Semaglutide dose escalation. That said, your treatment plan may vary. For example, if you experience side effects at any point during dose escalation, your doctor may delay your next dose increase by several weeks. However, semaglutide isn’t recommended for adults who have intolerable side effects with the maintenance dose. Wegovy comes as a solution inside a prefilled single-dose pen. You’ll administer it by subcutaneous injection* under the skin of the following body areas:

  • Abdomen, at least 2 inches away from your belly button
  • Thigh
  • Upper arm

*Subcutaneous injections are administered in the subcutaneous fat layer. In contrast to injections into muscle tissue, they are given at the fatty tissue layer just under the skin. These injections are not as deep as those into the muscles.

Doctors typically prescribe Wegovy as a long-term treatment. You’ll likely use it long term if you and your doctor feel it’s safe and effective for your condition.
